Tissone speaks ahead of Bremen clash
Fernando Tissone has been speaking ahead of Sampdoria's Champions League tie with Werder Bremen.
"We need to pull off a typical Sampdoria performance," he told Sky Sport, before adding, "With all due respect to Werder Bremen, we mustn’t have any fear of the opposition. They possess great champions like (Mesut) Ozil but we ourselves can do damage with the likes of (Antonio) Cassano and (Giampaolo) Pazzini."
The midfielder was then asked about Sampdoria's transfer market dealings compared to their city rivals, Genoa, who have invested considerably more than the Blucerchiati this summer. "Genoa and Sampdoria have made different choices in the transfer market. Let's wait and see until the derby who has come out better equipped."
Finally, he set a rather pessimistic goal for the coming season. "I don’t know where we will finish this season, but as a minimum I think we should be aiming for at least tenth place."

Meet Da Costa
Meet Da Costa, the first non-Italian goalkeeper of Sampdoria.
Place and date of birth: São Bernardo do Campo (Brazil), 12/11/1983
Height: 186 cm
Weight: 81 kg
Position: goalkeeper
One of the club's signings this season was the acquisition of the goalkeeper Angelo Esmael da Costa Junior, or simply Da Costa. The Brazilian is a promising 26 year old goalkeeper who had two excellent seasons in Serie B with Ancona and arrives as the first foreign goalkeeper in the history of Sampdoria.
Actually, the first non-Italian goalkeeper was an Indonesian. But Kurnia Sandy barely made appearances on the bench in the 1996/1997 season, let alone in the field. That's why we can consider Da Costa as the "real" first one. Da Costa made his debut in an official friendly match last week against Cologne (a 0-2 loss).
Physically well developed, and skilled in his saves, it's up to him to prove his worth - alongside Curci and Fiorillo - and to be ready when needed.
Beginning
From São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil - just like Deco and Thiago Motta - and born in 1983, Da Costa began his career at Esporte Clube Santo André, a club from São Paulo state. His debut in the first team was in 2003. He won two major titles in that year: the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior - the highest youth tournament in Brazil - and the Copa Paulista, in the professional level.
Libertadores
Just promoted to Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B (Brazilian 2nd division) in 2004, Santo André reach glory when they made Copa do Brasil finals. On June 30, 2004, they emerged champions against the giant Flamengo in a crowded Maracanã. This feat granted Santo André a place in 2005 Copa Libertadores for the first (and only) time ever in its history.
After leading the team until the Copa do Brasil finals, Da Costa didn't participate in the final match due to injury, but in the following season he took his satisfaction when he debuted in Libertadores - South American Champions League equivalent - in the match against the Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño.
Arrival In Italy
In January 2008 he left Brazil to play for Italian Serie C2 side Varese. During the summer of 2008, he signed for Ancona for an undisclosed fee. With a total of 42 appearances, Da Costa remained among the best goalkeepers in Serie B.
And now, starting this summer, he has the opportunity to make history at Sampdoria. Welcome and good luck, Da Costa!

Agent: Cassano will not leave Sampdoria
Antonio Cassano's agent, Giuseppe Bozzo, has moved to put an end to speculation surrounding his client.
"I can guarantee that Sampdoria will not deprive themselves of Cassano, not even if the club don't qualify for the group stages of the Champions League."
Rumours had circulated over the weekend linking the fantasista with a move to Inter as a replacement for Mario Balotelli, who is said to be very close to signing for Manchester City. Bozzo denied there was any truth in this. "I haven't been in touch with any Inter officials during this particular transfer window for my client."

Palombo: Gastaldello for Italy
Angelo Palombo has been speaking in the build up to Cesare Prandelli's first match in charge of the Azzurri.
The club captain is joined in the squad by Sampdoria team-mates Antonio Cassano and Stefano Lucchini, but he believes that Sampdoria have more to offer to the national team.
“I hope that Giampaolo Pazzini and Daniele Gastaldello find space in the future at some stage. Gastaldello is one of the most consistent defenders in the Italian championship.”

Guberti delighted to be back
Stefano Guberti has expressed his delight to have returned to Sampdoria.
The winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Marassi from Roma and had started pre-season training with the Giallorossi. This week the Blucerchiati bought 50% of his contract.
“I really wanted to come back to Samp, where in just six months I had been able to make my mark in a splendid group of players,” said the 25-year-old.
“It was not an easy negotiation process, but I am happy that we found a way through over the last few days. I also thank Roma for releasing me before the UEFA deadline, as I fought hard with my teammates to earn our Champions League play-off chance and wanted to be here to take part.”
